How You Can Help
Tax Benefit - IRA Rollover
If you are 70-and-a-half years or older, you have the opportunity to take advantage of a unique tax benefit that has recently been extended through December 2009. Originally included under the Pension Protection Act of 2006, an eligible donor can give up to $100,000 directly from an IRA account to a public charity and in many cases the donation will be not be taxed as income. The contribution must be made as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from the IRA to a certified organization. This benefit is currently available through the end of 2009. If you are interested in taking advantage of this giving option, we recommend that you contact a lawyer or tax adviser for additional information.
