Rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy
The Asia Foundation topped the list of worthy charities concerned with "Asia and Asian American" with an "A" or "Excellent" rating from the AIP. AIP rates nationally prominent charities and is bases its ratings mainly on and examination of ratio of money raised to program costs (must be at least 75% to qualify for list) and fundraising efficiency (must spend no more than $25 for every $100 raised to make list). Four Star Rating from Charity Navigator
The Asia Foundation received its seventh consecutive four-star rating, the highest possible, from Charity Navigator in the International Peace, Security, and Affairs category. The Asia Foundation received four stars in all three categories - Organizational Efficiency, Organizational Capacity, and Peer Analysis – that combined comprise the overall measurement. Under Organizational Efficiency, Charity Navigator measured fundraising efficiency, fundraising expenses, program expenses, and administration expenses. Under Organizational Capacity, primary revenue growth, program expenses growth, and working capital ratios were examined. Source: www.charitynavigator.org
San Francisco Business Times "Largest Charities in the Bay Area" (2006 Book of Lists)
In 2006, The Asia Foundation was ranked as the 3rd largest charity in the Bay Area by The San Francisco Business Times. Based in San Francisco since 1954, The Asia Foundation is proud to be the largest international charity in the Bay Area.
Honorary Medal from Afghan President Hamid Karzai
President Karzai presented The Asia Foundation an honorary medal for its contributions to the development of the new Consitution for Afghanistan. The medal was presented during the closing ceremony of all 502 delegates of the Constitutional Loya Jirga in Kabul following the ratification of the Constitution on January 4, 2004.
